Diet:
The Rainbow Shrimp feeds primarily on soft algae and micro organisms. But in captivity, it will also feast on the leftovers of their tank mates (flakes, blood worms, algae pellets).
Aquarium Requirements:
A heavily decorated tank with moderate currents at most is preferred. Tank size is not critical: given its small maximum size, a colony of 10-20 shrimp can easily be houses in a 10 gallon tank.
The Rainbow Shrimp can handle high nitrate levels poorly, so a densely planted tank and regular water changes are a must to keep this beautiful little crustacean healthy. It tolerates a wide range of water temperatures: ideal is a temperature between 70-80 ° fahrenheit (21-27 ° Celsius).
Temperament:
Harmless and somewhat fragile, tank mates should be chosen with care: it should only be kept with small peaceful community fish or bottom dwellers.
