Aquarium Requirements:
A heavily decorated tank with moderate currents at most is preferred. Tank size is not critical: a colony of 10-20 shrimp can easily be houses in a 10 gallon tank.
The Bumblebee Shrimp can handle high nitrate levels very poorly, so a densely planted tank and regular water changes are a must to keep this beautiful little crustacean healthy. Also, it tolerates high temperatures very poorly: therefore, the water should not be warmer than 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit (22-25 degrees Celsius).
Diet:
The Bumblebee Shrimp feeds primarily on soft algae and micro organisms. But in captivity, it will also feast on the leftovers of their tank mates (flakes, blood worms, algae pellets).
Temperament:
Harmless, fragile and quite shy, tank mates should be chosen with care: it should only be kept with small peaceful community fish or bottom dwellers.
